Similar powders such as Blue Dot, Herco etc. I also load them up, harder cast and gas-checked, for stouter loads, where they behave well to at least 100 yards. They worked well to at least 25m and further. TBH I can't see any attraction to the thing, other than in ARs. Maybe something to do with the compromised twist rate, too fast for the light bullets, marginal for the heavier ones. Accuracy is reported to be variable, particularly in the low powered loads. 300 Whisper for it, but that was never the original intention. It's still only a 1300 fpe round, so might have some utility for small deer, fully loaded, if you must. Expanding bullets available rather than FMJ or steel penetrator SS109 5.56 military stuff that was deemed less effective in some military scenarios. And much the same drop.ģ00 AAC Blackout was never developed as a subsonic round, rather as a high velocity equivalent of the 7.62x39 to up the bullet weight and diameter, and the power a tiny bit, compared with 5.56 ammo in ARs, requiring only a barrel change to convert to it.
